Say hello to the thrills and excitement of the massive amusement park at the Galveston Pleasure Pier. Or stroll past well preserved Victorian-era buildings in the old Strand District. Once called the "Wall Street of the South", this charming commercial hub is home to mansions-turned-museums. Seafood is king on Galveston Island. Gulf shrimp, blue crabs, snapper and grouper come fresh off the boat. But the signature Tex-Mex cuisine is equally impressive.

Cruise to Costa Maya and find ancient Maya ruins and mysterious jungles just begging to be explored, as well as private beach clubs and trendy restaurants— all in one place. It’s 250 square miles of paradise packed with entertainment and history, all just 30 miles south of Cancun. The Great Maya Reef just off the coast is the second largest in the world— it’s a must-snorkel spot. Or you can kick back at the port village of Mahahual with an ice-cold michelada— a spicy beer cocktail— in hand. For a culture fix, head to the Kohunlick ruins to see the famous Temple of the Masks.

Cozumel blends Mexican culture with the Caribbean spirit. You can explore its Maya roots in Tulum, or have fun swimming with the dolphins at Chankanaab. There are several private beaches like Playa Mia, where you can relax, enjoy great food and bountiful sunshine. There are even miniature submarines where you can explore the crystal clear Caribbean water. And don't forget shopping. Cozumel is a bargain hunter's paradise.

After your cruise is over, consider an extra couple days in the sleepy little town of Galveston. Afternoons are typically filled with sunshine. Explore Moody Garden's interactive wildlife exhibits. Walk along Galveston beach or if you're really adventurous, head north a few miles and enjoy the Johnson Space Center. There's something for everyone to do in Galveston. It's one of America's great little towns.
